Dear Parents of 8th grade students,
This past weekend, you should have received a letter in the mail with instructions on how to set up a Myschools.nyc account. This is different than the Mystudent account where you see report card grades, attendance and other biographical information. If you have not received a letter in the mail, please email me so I can give you your account creation code. I would also need to update your address if you are not receiving DOE letters.
Your Myschools.nyc account is the website you will use to explore high schools, register for tests/ auditions, submit your application and finally, receive your high school offer. Although there is no deadline for the applications to be submitted for the NYC public high schools as of yet, there is a deadline for registering to take the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) That deadline is November 15. The exam will be administered here, at 128, in early December.
Register for the SHSAT by November 15. Registration is now open for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), which determines admissions to the eight testing Specialized High Schools.
If you are interested in applying to any/all of these schools, submit your registration—including your school preferences—by the November 15 deadline. Registration for the SHSAT is not first-come first-served; all students who register by the deadline can take the SHSAT.
You can register online with your MySchools account
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or Ms Levine at LLevine11@schools.nyc.gov
