Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Science Fair is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in scientific thinking and investigation. We are pleased to announce that the PS IS 128 Science Fair will be held this year in the spring of 2023. This year’s theme - “Discovering Phenomena in our World”
The Science Fair is mandatory for all students in grades 6th - 8th. Students must complete all components of the project. This grade will be averaged into the third marking period average.
Students may select a topic of their choice, as long as it receives approval from their respective science teacher. Focusing on the theme, we are recommending students investigate phenomena of our world. The best way to explore this is by asking questions about our world.
Students may work individually or in groups of up to three students in the same class. The majority of the work will be completed at home, however there will be guidance provided in the classroom and a chance for students to receive feedback from peers and teachers throughout the process. Please keep parent participation to a minimum, as this should be a reflection of student work. Groups will be graded as a whole on the submitted project.
The two major components include the following:
1. Class Presentation of the Investigation
2. Tri-Fold Display Board
There will be a parent meeting held virtually in the morning on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 9am. The link to join the meeting is : https://zoom.us/j/99253380268?pwd=OWJ0MHg2SDNleWZZaUpvY2NaYWF5QT09
