Meet the Instructors at Thinking Cap
Vita Lombardo, Italian Teacher
      Vita Lombardo grew up in Middle Village where she attended St. Margarets School and eventually went to St. Francis Prep High School. She went to St. Johns University for undergraduate and graduate school.  She has a BS in Elementary Education and an MS in Literacy from St. Johns University. She has a minor in Italian, where she was able to master the language. She also has an administration degree from Long Island University.  Vita's parents were both born in Sicily, Italy and came here rather young.  Most of her family is currently in Sicily. Vita has started an Italian programs at PS 49 with the Italian organization, UNICO.  She is currently an elementary school teacher at PS 175 in Forest Hills.  Vita has been teaching at her school for 17 years and is currently a Kindergarten teacher. Vita looks forward to working with you and your children in helping them learn the language.
Olivia Parente, Dance Instructor

     Olivia is a Brooklyn based dancer and yoga instructor. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of the Arts in May 2018. There she studied various forms of dance including ballet, modern, jazz, african, hip-hop, and tap and performed in works by Jesse Zaritt, Sidra Bell, Nora Gibson, Gary Jeter and Helen Simoneau. Olivia has trained abroad at The Accademia Dell’ Arte in Italy as well as with various teachers and artists in France and Belgium. In June 2017, Olivia received her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training certification from Kripalu School of Yoga. During the 2018-2019 school year she worked as a yoga teacher for elementary school children through NIA Community Services Network. She also instructs yoga at the Hebrew Educational Society and YvaYoga. Olivia teaches dance at various daycare and preschool centers throughout Brooklyn through international company, Kinderdance. She is happy to be teaching both dance and yoga as a part of the Thinking Cap Academy after school program while pursuing a professional career in modern/contemporary dance.
